My Slow PC...
Over
the years it all came from somewhere, kind of like the stuff
in my garage. Now it is clogging up the works. What should
I do.
1.
The absolute best solution is to reformat (wipe) your hard
drive clean and reload the operating system and then the applications.
This can be a long 2-4 hour process and should only be done
by a professional.
2.
Uninstall some of the programs. Go to the Start, Control Panel,
Add/Remove Programs and locate the unneeded programs and do
a Remove operation. This is pretty good but usually some remains
of the programs are always around, especially in your registry.
3.
Get rid of the Start Up Programs. Down by the clock in the
lower right hand corner of your display, how may icons do
you have? Here is the root of many performance problems. Each
one of those icons represents a program that was loaded when
your PC started up. You may never use the program but it is
still loaded. This can take a big bite out of your PC. You
can adjust the startup programs that are loaded by running
MSCONFIG from the Run command. Be very careful you can really
shoot yourself in the foot here.
Hopefully
these are just a few things you can look for to help your
PC run better.
Good
Luck!
